Cyber Security has long been a thing, ever since technology has become more advanced over the course of the last two decades. Cyber Security is the practice of defending computers, mobile devices, networks, servers, and data, any form of data, from malicious attacks that can cause damages to your personal device. It can also be known as electronic information security or technology security. The term works and applies for a multitude of different contexts and fields, from mobile computing, to business, and it can also be split into different categories as well. Some of the categories include: network security, application security, and operational security are just some of the different categories that fall under Cyber Security.

Since technology has become so advanced, it’s also become easier to hack and plant certain viruses in your personal device that can cause multiple problems, which may altogether cause you to get another device. The top three threats that are included with Cyber Security, those three threats are: Cybercrime, Cyber-attack, and Cyberterrorism. Cybercrime has single actors, or group actors that target certain systems for financial gain, or to even just cause disruption and mayhem. Cyber-attacks are more of a focused cyber threat. It often involves politically motivated information gathering. Some examples of that include a few years back, during the 2016 presidential election between Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton, when it was reported that someone hacked Hilary Clinton’s emails and threatened to send them out to the public. Cyberterrorism is the intent to undermine electronic systems and to cause dismay and panic amongst the public. Another big threat to Cyber Security is Malware. Malware is malicious software, and it’s software that cybercriminals or hackers created to disrupt and potentially damage someone’s computer. There are plenty of different types of malware, some include: viruses, spyware, phishing, and trojans, just to name a few.

Cyber-crime sets the global economy back hundreds of billions of dollars in repairs. Although there are many risks and problems that come with technology, and how frequently we use our personal devices to search the web, there are some benefits to having Cyber Security. The first and most obvious benefit is the protection and safety to have certain programs downloaded on your device to help protect you against the problems I listed earlier. Some other benefits of having and managing cyber security include: faster recovery times in the case that a breach happens, improved information security and business continuity management, and improved confidence in your security arrangements. Now, along with protecting your computer and other personal devices, that comes with a cost obviously, but another big benefit of having programs that specialize in protecting your information, is that there are plenty of different pricing options and deals that work best for you and your budget.

As technology and the internet grows with new ways to search and connect, so do the risks. Along with the risks, there are also benefits that combat those problems. Cyber Security is a very diverse field with plenty of opportunities within. There is always something to learn and gain from gaining more information about cyber threats, and the protection and protection services that you can use to help defend against a very common problem.

In closing, Cyber Security is an essential part in everyday life, everyone is connected to the internet in one way, shape, or form. Learning about the risks and finding ways to protect and defend yourself, and others from the problems that arise with cyber threats. With every threat that arises, so does the protection to help better assist you.
